Local dive shops and other civic groups have spearheaded efforts to create artificial reefs by intentionally sinking ships after an ecological clean-up. Some of these ships are quite large and all attract a wide variety of fish. Sharing the spots with divers gets tricky at times. Also, some reefs are protected from fishing and lobstering - watch for yellow buoys. Check out our listed sites for wrecks and reefs with location and other information here in our listed dive sites.

Reefs are all along the coastline and offer unlimited sport fishing opportunities either with a guide or just renting a boat and heading out. Many are well marked and can be found with a minimum of navigational skills. Generally, this type of fishing is the most productive, light tackle being preferred. As the reef is just off-shore, you will get there faster and be hooking grouper, barracuda, snapper, sharks and lots more. Night fishing here can be especially productive.
